Well, it’s official. My Kickstarter campaign for Drawing Cheat Codes 2 has been funded!
We’ve run about a dozen of these campaigns, but this moment is always awesome and never gets old! Knowing that people trust your idea enough to help make it happen is exhilarating and a genuine honor.
The Drawing Cheat Codes grew out of the anatomy class I teach at the Pennsylvania College of Art and Design. I would hand-draw my lecture notes, then photocopy them and hand them to my students. If the hand-outs helped the students understand the lesson then they made it into either my Anatomy Reference book or the Drawing Cheat Codes 1 (both of which has since sold out!).
Those 2 books were a true hit and helped us launch our self publishing to where it is today, with dozens of books and zines out the door and into fan’s hands.
Getting to follow up that first book, which was focused on easy to remember hacks for human proportions, with a 2nd volume is exciting because I’ll get to take the ideas from volume one and make them three dimensional!
The idea is to pare down your typical drawing book, strip away all the excessive text and explanations and SHOW what I mean with the art.
Now, with the support of all the great folks backing the project, Drawing Cheat Codes 2 is going to become a reality!
Thank you all!
We’ve gotten a couple of snow storms here in Central PA and my dogs are absolutely loving it!
They’re only a year old, so this is their first year actually out in the stuff and I’m learning something about them every time we go out on our walks.
For instance, Magnus has almost no real fur but that boy does not mind the cold one bit and LOVES the snow.
I mean, REALLY loves the snow!
I thought maybe he’d want to avoid his walks due to the cold, but he literally begs to go out.
Even without his coat, he just loves being out in the snow and I have to fight with the guy to come in!
Of course, when he finally comes in he sits by the heater to warm up, but then is eager to get back out.
The little guy is crazy for the stuff!
I finished this fun cover-quality commission, this time of the classic Spidey villain The Chameleon!
Commission list managed by the fine folks at Cadence Comic Art.
Thanks everyone!
Best,
Mike
