My friend Bill is dead.
I’ve tried to write something about him, but in the end it feels silly so I end up trashing it. None of it does him justice.
He was a great friend, punk but gregarious, cranky but kind. He supported me when no one else cared ( he let me do my first signing at his shop and even bought and sold a quarter of the print run for my first comic book.)
I was supposed to go over to his place Wednesday to hang out but put it off for work.
He died Wednesday.
Go see your friends.
Bill owned the Comix Connection chain of stores in Central PA. He was proud to supported indy comics and loved art. We’d often talk about our mutual love of artists like Jaime Hernandez or Alex Toth. He leaves behind 2 great kids he was incredibly proud of.
I’ll miss him.
Falling down on the job.

Here’s a warm up sketch for you.
Also working on this figure sketch.

Thanks to everyone that checked out the charity auction for The Arc of York County! It raised 330 dollars for them!
THANK YOU!
We dropped a new episode of my life drawing and interview show, Life Studied this past week. Patrons get it a week early AND support the show!
Mairin-taj and I discuss what it means to be an artist vs an illustrator. Great conversation, all while I draw and she poses!
Thanks, everyone.
Best,
Mike
PS - Archie is fitting right in. Here he is sitting on Magnus’ head.
Hey Man. I am sorry and sad to hear about the passing of your friend. Thank you for posting all the photos. Los Pollos Hermanos made me laff out loud.
