My new artbook, Life Studied Vol.2 funded last night.
I hadn’t been paying attention, and when I logged off for the night we were stuck at something like 20 bucks form our goal. I figured, with the Puppy Bowl on today and some other game, people may not be thinking about the beauty of old-school figurative art.
Well, wrong was I.
A group of unsung heroes put their faith in my little indie publishing dream and got us over the finish line, so folks… we’re making a new book!
THANK YOU!
So, what’s next?
Now, we add "stretch-goals. What are “strech-goals” you ask?
They are extras that we add to the pot to sweeten the deal, at no extra charge, once we hit higher funding goals.
The idea is that the more money we raise the more we can afford to add goodies to your bag without charging anything extra.
I’m considering some art prints, books marks, stickers, maybe even a live drawing session just for backers.
But in the end, the book is the main event. And it’s going to be really good.
In addition to the book, there options to get original art. I’m offering actual pages from my sketchbooks, three different sized sketchbooks in fact. There are four different tiers that offer original sketchbook pages along side the book.
The idea is to make the tier special but keep the art affordable, all while I share a bit of my process as well as a piece of the work that makes up the book itself.
Look, Substack is cool but I don’t know if anything beats physical media. I hope you’ll check out Life Studied Vol.2. It’ll look great on your end table or bookshelf ;-)
Even if you’re not into physical books, we’re offering a digital option you can enjoy on your tablet or phone.
Thanks!
(Here’s a video preview of the book.)
Over on my kid’s Substack “writer? I hardly know her!”, she’s shared a really cute short film about Love.
Watch it. It’ll warm your heart. If you enjoy it, give her a follow. You won’t regret it.
Over on my Patreon, I’m celebrating all things Life Studied by making some stickers to link the Patreon and Kickstarter.
Check out the Patreon to find out how to get these new stickers.
Today is the big game. I confess, I’m more invested in the game than I have been in years because our local heroes The Philadelphia Eagles are playing.
I’ve mentioned here before that I illustrated a game-day poster for the Eagles this year.
The day of the game we did a tailgate-signing outside the stadium, which…honestly, I was kinda nervous about. I mean, would hardcore Eagles fans care about some artist handing out posters?
Well, they did. They were warm, despite the weather, and welcoming.
We gave out and signed hundreds of posters.
You gotta love Philly fans!
So, yeah. I’m rooting for the Eagles.
GO BIRDS!
Thanks, everyone.
Best,
Mike
Congrats on the Eagles! (Oh, and getting funded😁)
